Main Goals
The goal of the Graduate Program in Teaching (PPGEN/UENP) is to qualify professionals to work as educators at various levels of education (Basic and Higher Education) through the development of research and pedagogical proposals focused on teaching practices across different areas of knowledge, including both formal and non-formal learning environments.
Objectives
- To foster the development of critical reflections on teaching and learning processes, resulting in the creation of didactic and pedagogical proposals that support educators in their professional education and practice.
- To promote the establishment of relationships among knowledge from different fields, encouraging philosophical, historical, and sociological debates on the role and application of scientific and technological knowledge within today’s diverse social configurations, aiming at improvements in school and higher education.
- To contribute to teaching and learning in various domains of knowledge by conducting investigations and reflections on the epistemological, social, and cultural foundations of scientific knowledge in the context of the teaching profession.
- To provide opportunities for research on the use of various technologies and teaching materials (such as texts, equipment, experiments, didactic sequences, games, videos, and software), including digital technologies, in teaching and learning processes.
- To encourage the analysis of teaching practices related to classroom, content, and learning management, considering the complex and interdisciplinary nature of educational contexts.
- To promote research and critical examination of teaching practices, to produce innovative educational products and processes through high-quality, complex research in the field of Teaching, to be developed, refined, and applied within the actual contexts in which the initial issues were identified, thus contributing to improvements in teaching and learning.
- To provide opportunities for the investigation and refinement of educational products and processes developed within the program, including their validation, identification of usage limitations, and research implications.
- To ensure that graduates (Master’s and Doctoral degree holders) are capable of investigating, innovating, and improving their teaching practices, making them critical and transformative. Based on high-quality research in Teaching, they should be able to problematize, design, and implement educational products and processes that promote contextualized teaching aligned with the ever-evolving demands of learning.
- To promote high-level teacher education based on the research experience and academic expertise of the program’s faculty members.
