Concentration Area and Research Lines
The Graduate Program in Teaching (PPGEN) is structured around one concentration area and two research lines, characterized by the type of scientific production presented by the faculty members.
Concentration Area: Teaching, Science, and Technology.
New Research Lines (from the 2025–2028 quadrennium):
L1 – Teaching and Teacher Education: This line encompasses studies focused on teacher education and the production of pedagogical materials for teaching. It considers fundamental knowledge of teaching practice, such as methodological approaches, specific didactics, assessment modalities and tools, epistemic and pedagogical development of lessons, classroom and content management. It supports the investigation of educational products (EP) aimed at contributing to pedagogical practice grounded in research and based on theoretical, methodological, technological, and innovative approaches that address various disciplinary fields, teaching modalities, school levels, diversity, and learning configurations.
L2 – (Inter)disciplinary Content Learning, Technologies, and Innovation: This line guides research focused on the development of teaching materials that contribute to the learning of scientific content across different (inter)disciplinary fields, considering historical-philosophical foundations and their relationship with school and university education. It encompasses methodological, technological, and didactic innovation aspects, different teaching modalities, diversity, school levels, and learning configurations.
Research Lines until 2024:
Research Line 1: Teaching and Learning in Natural Sciences and Mathematics
This line covers teaching and learning processes in Natural Sciences and Mathematics, their historical-philosophical foundations, and their relation to school education. Within formal and non-formal education contexts, it investigates the theoretical-methodological bases of teaching and learning processes and assessment modalities and instruments. The research aims to enable the development and use of didactic and media materials that contribute to educational practice to promote effective learning of scientific content.
Research Line 2: Teacher Education, Technological Resources, and Languages
This line prioritizes studies focused on teacher education. It includes fundamental knowledge of teaching practice such as methodological teaching approaches, specific didactics, assessment modalities and tools, epistemic and didactic-pedagogical development of lessons, classroom and scientific content management, and everyday schooling practices. It also covers the forms of language present in educational processes, including studies on reading, writing, scientific and technological literacy, distance education, digital inclusion, and networked learning, highlighting communication, interaction, and mediation processes.
